Den ganzen Tag gab es schon Gerüchte darum, dass Sonys Zugpferd für das Weihnachtsgeschäft möglicherweise ein paar Wochen später erscheinen wird. Jetzt haben Sony Computer Entertainment Europe eine offizielle Pressemitteilung rausgebracht:

During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused.

We will confirm the new launch date shortly.

Bisher war nur die Rede davon, dass das Spiel sich in Europa verspätet. Ist es amerikanischen Muslimen egal, dass in einem Videospiel der Koran zitiert wird. Ist Qur’an jetzt die politisch korrekte Schreibweise ? Fragen über Fragen…

Update: Die Rückrufaktion betrifft scheinbar nicht nur Europa (Verdammt und ich dachte schon, dass ich mit meinem Kanadaimport jetzt im Vorteil wäre). Bin mal gespannt, ob die bereits verkauften Exemplare jetzt zu horrenden Preisen als Sammlerstücke gehandelt werden.

Stein des Anstoßes ist übrigens das Lied “Tapha Niang” von Toumani Diabate’s Symmetric Orchestra. Die betreffenden Zeilen sind folgende:

1- In the 18th second: “كل نفس ذائقة الموت” (”kollo nafsin tha’iqatol mawt”, literally: ‘Every soul shall have the taste of death’).

2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: “كل من عليها فان” (”kollo man alaiha fan”, literally: ‘All that is on earth will perish’).
